How credits work on Flux 3 Image: cost, expiry, refunds

A FLUX 3 Image generation costs 44, 91, or 550 credits at 1K, 2K, or 4K. How credits are granted, when they expire, and what refunds itself.

Flux 3 Image is an independent workbench for FLUX 3 Image, the image model by Black Forest Labs. This post explains the four mechanics that decide what you pay: credits, the plans, expiry, and refunds. Nothing here is buried in a terms page.

What one image costs

Every generation is priced in credits, and the price sits on the prompt box before you run. There is one model in the workbench, so the only thing that moves the price is the resolution you pick:

  • 1K (about 1 megapixel): 44 credits
  • 2K (about 4 megapixels): 91 credits
  • 4K (about 16 megapixels): 550 credits

These are preview credit figures, not approved sale prices. We access the model through fal: its published 1K regular price is $0.048 after the launch discount ends October 8. The 2K and 4K fal prices still need verification; the current credit figures retain the earlier BFL direct cost estimates and will be recalculated before opening generation or sales. At the same resolution, text generation and reference edits use the same preview credit price.

Every new account starts with 5 free credits, no card required. They are not enough for an image on their own (a 1K image is 44), but they never expire and count toward your first image once you add a plan or a pack.

Three ways to pay

Paid plans open once pricing is finalized; the shapes are already decided, the numbers are not. You will be able to subscribe monthly, subscribe yearly, or buy a pack once and never think about it again.

  • Monthly plans grant their credits every month and auto-renew.
  • Yearly plans hand you all twelve months of credits in one grant, up front, and charge once a year.
  • One-time packs have no renewal and nothing to cancel.

Prices and credit counts for each will be on the pricing page the day they go live, and on the prompt box as a per-image figure.

Credits expire, and here is exactly when

This is the part worth reading twice, because it is the part most tools leave for the fine print.

  • Monthly plan credits last 30 days from each grant. They do not stack month to month.
  • Yearly plan credits last a full year. Because the whole year arrives in one grant, unused credits genuinely carry from month to month.
  • One-time packs carry their own validity window, shown on the pack before you buy.

We do not claim credits never expire, because they do. What we will not do is hide the date from you: the expiry is on the pricing page, on this page, and in your credit history.

When you spend credits, the ones expiring soonest are used first. That ordering is deliberate. It means a pack you paid for is not quietly burned while subscription credits sit and expire.

Failed runs refund themselves

If a generation fails, times out, or is withheld by a safety check, its credits come back to your balance automatically. You should never pay for an image you did not get.

You will see the refund as its own line in your credit history, so you can check it rather than take our word for it. If you ever see a failure that did not refund, write to us and we will fix both the balance and the cause.

Refunds cover technical failures and withheld output. They do not cover an image that generated successfully but is not what you hoped for, which is the same boundary every tool in this category draws. Purchase refunds are a separate matter and are covered on the refund policy page: within 7 days of a purchase, with no more than 3 successful generations since.

One model, named in full

The workbench accesses FLUX 3 Image by Black Forest Labs through fal. A text-only prompt uses blackforestlabs/flux-3/text-to-image; adding a reference selects blackforestlabs/flux-3/edit-image. Both use the same model, not a hidden cheaper tier.

Flux 3 Image, this site, is an independent product, not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Black Forest Labs. FLUX is a trademark of Black Forest Labs; it is used here only to identify the model we provide access to.

What commercial use means here

Images you generate are yours to use in commercial work under our terms of service. We add no visible watermark or logo.

Two boundaries stay yours to manage: trademarks and real people's likenesses follow their own rules regardless of which tool made the image.

That is the whole system. Try it from the generator on the homepage, read what FLUX 3 Image is, or check the FAQ.
